Ashea Head Start is committed to provide excellence in programming that supports the social-emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual needs of the whole child. While incorporating these aspects, children are enriched with positive experiences that develop skills and understandings during the specific activities, play, and social interactions. Children receive kindergarten readiness skills that support lifelong learning.
In addition to supporting children, Ashea supports parents and caregivers as the primary teachers. Parents become involved with their child at Ashea through a variety of ways, such as volunteering, donating materials, joining in during activities, attending meetings and luncheons, or becoming a Parent Advisory Committee member. Along with direct family member involvement, extended family members, and community members play a role at Ashea.
The components of the Aboriginal Head Start Initiative are included in the Ashea Head Start program. These components include culture and language; education; health promotion; nutrition; social support; parental and family involvement.
