Salary: $66,102.40 - $81,372.20 per annum (Level 6) plus benefits

Description

Kwanlin Dün First Nation is seeking a qualified Child & Family Liaison Worker. Under the supervision of the Director of Justice, and in accordance with legislation and policy the successful candidate will be providing services to children and families of KDFN including but not limited to case management, formulation and implementation of service plans, advocacy, preparing clients and documents for court. The ability to establish and maintain trust is crucial for success in this role.

Qualifications:
- Diploma in Social Work, Child & Youth Care or equivalent from a recognized institution in Canada. A Degree in one of the areas noted above is an asset;
- Extensive recent experience in cooperative planning and family group conferencing;
- Extensive recent experience working with children under the Director’s care (ie: Ministry of a Province, Director in a Territory) and supporting family & children in the child welfare system;
- Considerable experience with case management, mediation and conflict resolution specific to children & families;
- Considerable experience working within the parameters of child welfare legislation, policies, practice and administration as it relates to child protection matters.

Knowledge of the history and culture of the Kwanlin Dün community and family structures is necessary for success.

Note: an equivalent combination of formal education and considerable experience in the above areas will be considered.

Knowledge required for success in the position includes but is not limited to:
- Knowledge and understanding of holistic and alternative processes such as family support circles, mediation, and principle teachings associated with aboriginal culture and heritage. (For example: medicine wheel teachings, traditional parenting)
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Peoples history with formal justice and child welfare systems.

Conditions of employment: Acceptable pre-employment criminal record and vulnerable sector search; Class 5 driver’s license, reliable transportation and clean driver’s abstract; First Aid and CPR; conflict & dispute resolution workshops (or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment).

Job Requirements: As an essential service with the Nation, the incumbent must be willing to work irregular shifts, including weekends and holidays, and respond to after hour emergencies.
