Cook Helpers

Salary: $20.00 per hour, or $160.00 per day (dependent on the event)

Position Type: Auxiliary on Call to March 31, 2018

Closing Date: Friday, April 28, 2017 at 4:30 pm


We are seeking resumes from qualified Cook Helpers to assist with various events, galas, ceremonies, meetings, and any other meal & snack preparation as required. You may be assisting with cooking for events taking place at our Cultural Centre, Nàkwät’à Kų̀ Potlatch House, Jackson Lake Healing Camp or other locations within KDFN traditional territory in camp or culinary kitchen environments.

Assisting with food preparation and cooking, cleaning and maintaining sanitary kitchen while abiding by health and safety regulations is required. You will be good at team work, work efficiently within established time lines and demonstrate wellness are all elements of the position. Demonstrated respect to attendees, staff, clients and all people is necessary. Confidentiality is very important for our clients and guests and must be abided by at all times when supporting land based healing or similar programming.

Transportation to and from the locations of events, including Jackson Lake is the responsibility of the Cook Helper.

• Valid Food Safe Level 1 & WHMIS certification;
• Valid First Aid & CPR;
• Recent cook help and kitchen help experience;
• Experience working successfully in team environment;
• Experience cooking in a camp setting is an asset;
• Demonstrated reliability (obtained through reference checks);
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and vehicle is an asset.

Job Requirements: This position requires the incumbent work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekend shifts. Shifts may be rotational. Demonstrated wellness and sobriety are required. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds is a requirement of the position.
