Description

Dusk’a Head Start Family Learning Centre is seeking qualified Level III Early Childhood Educators to fill permanent position(s), and anticipated term and on call positions. We are seeking qualified child care professionals who are kind, compassionate, and truly enjoy working with young children between 18 months and 5 years of age. Cultural programming is delivered in our centre and daily meals and snacks are provided to children provided by the cook in our in facility kitchen.

Our Centre provides a holistic service, folding families/caregivers into the child development process while responding to special and individual child development needs, and building a strong sense of place, belonging and self-identity with respect to language and culture. The core program for the Centre is based on the Aboriginal Head Start Program with an emphasis on integrated early learning focused on whole family learning, aboriginal language and culture, and support for individual and special needs.

Qualifications:

• Level III (3) Early Childhood Education designation, and current successful experience working with children 18 months – 5 years of age
• Experience planning, developing and implementing a variety of recreational, social, life skill and parenting programming and activities relevant to First Nation children which meet group and individual needs
• Experience working effectively in a team environment

*Depending on pool of applicants lower levels may be considered with commitment to completing ones level III designation.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and considerable experience in the areas noted above will be equally considered.


Conditions of employment / job requirements include: Early Childhood Certification/Designation and a commitment to maintain and continue education (paid by the employer); An acceptable criminal records check; A valid first aid certificate; Medical clearance, ’fit to work’ designation & TB test; Current immunization record. A valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s license is an asset
