Land and Resource Planner

Salary: $66,102 to $82,755 per annum (Level 6)

Position Type: Full-time, six (6) month term with the possibility of extension

Closing Date: Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 4:30PM

Description

Reporting to the Senior Lands Planner, the Land and Resource Planner performs skilled professional land use planning by applying specialized knowledge for the long range and short range land use planning and land use projects for the Kwanlin Dün First Nation.

Qualifications:
• Degree or equivalent in Lands Management, Environmental Studies, Resource Management or related field combined with experience working in land planning, or similar;
• Experience interpreting and administering complex legislation and regulations, preferably in a land management context;
• Knowledge and experience in sustainable land use, resource management and planning;
• Successful experience managing multiple projects;
• Solid writing skills with successful experience writing proposals, reports and briefing notes; and
• Experience interpreting and providing advice on land issues, with the ability to handle politically sensitive matters, and analyze, identify and recommend action options for senior management.

The incumbent will also need to have an:
• In-depth knowledge of various government and agency land administration processes and initiatives;
• Knowledge of the YESAA, environmental and socio-economic issues of impact assessment; and
• Knowledge of Kwanlin Dün First Nation Final and Self-Government agreements.

Note: An equivalent combination of post-secondary coursework, training, workshops and significant experience will equally be considered.

Conditions of Employment: Signed conflict of interest declaration and confidentiality agreement; and valid class 5 drivers’ license – access to a personal vehicle is an asset.
