Manager, Health Promotion and Outreach Services

Salary: $79,825 - $108,272 per annum (Level 8) plus benefits

Description

Responsible for development and coordination of integrated, comprehensive health education, health promotion and outreach service delivery to citizens of Kwanlin Dun First Nation and clients of the Natsékhi Kų̀ Health Centre,
Outreach Van, the Downtown Outreach clinic and various other sites, the Manager, Health Promotion and Outreach has a demonstrated commitment to team based, collaborative and innovative approaches to health care. The incumbent will be leading a dedicated team of professional and para-professional staff providing services that honour KDFN tradition and practices, while ensuring professional standards and integrity.

Essential Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent, combined with a minimum of 5 years progressive nursing experience, preferably in the north.
• Yukon Registered Nursing Association Registration and Certificate Immunization Competency (CIC), or be willing to obtain CIC within 2 months.
• Considerable experience delivering community-based health and social programs;
• Knowledge of and experience with health promotion, harm reduction, outreach services and population health concepts including the broad social determinants of health in a health care setting;
• Recent and relevant supervisory experience;
• Financial management experience is an asset;
• Experience working in partnership with other agencies including Health Canada, territorial partners, child welfare, and other First Nations.
• Knowledge of and experience working successfully in a First Nation community is an asset.

An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications and significant experience will be equally considered.
A sound knowledge of Aboriginal peoples social determinates of health, holistic health and population health approach in a community context and a familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success.

Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA) and Certificate of Immunization Competency

Conditions of Employment & Job Requirements: CPR ; Satisfactory pre-employment Criminal Record Check; Valid Yukon Driver’s License – Class 4 desirable; Immunization Record; TB Test; Food Safe Level 1, or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire; Current Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).

Job Requirements: Occasional overtime including weekend work; exposure to second hand smoke; Exposure to animals; Heavy lifting and bending; Exposure to latex products and other irritants.
