Salary: $82,464 to $111,839 per annum & a generous employer paid benefit

Position Type: Permanent full time (35 hours per week)

Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) Department of Health & Wellness is seeking a Manager, Mental Health & Wellness. The position is responsible for the delivery of culturally appropriate clinical and indigenous counselling, land-based healing program service and delivery for KDFN.

This is a new position; it will oversee the growth and development of a team with diverse backgrounds and expertise as KDFN works to implement services for people that reflect both clinical systems and traditional wellness practices.

The successful candidate is compassionate, personable, adaptable and flexible who is respected in the profession and able to develop and oversee the western counselling/traditional wellness modalities including land-based programming and service delivery. Staff management skills are required, as you will be leading a team of mental health and wellness professionals who serve the KDFN and other Yukon First Nation community members who access programs and services overseen by the unit.

• Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or equivalent *
• Significant current experience providing counselling services, preferably in first nation community, with knowledge and understanding of trauma and trauma informed practice, domestic & family violence, residential school and intergenerational effects, abuse, sexual abuse and addictions;
• Solid significant case management experience;
• Staff supervisory and financial management experience, the ability to provide clinical supervision is an asset;
• Experience in negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution;
• Program development, implementation and evaluation experience;
• Experience contributing to policy and procedure development is an asset;
• Knowledge of and experience working successfully in a First Nation community is an asset.

Knowledge of Indigenous People’s history with westernized health systems, residential school and intergenerational effects have on First Nation community as well as a familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, values, goals and aspirations are required for success in this position.

*An equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training and coursework, and significant experience in the above noted areas will be equally considered.

Clinical supervision of staff will be provided from an external source should the successful candidate not have this skill set.

Conditions of Employment & Job Requirements: Acceptable pre-employment criminal records check with vulnerable sector search; Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and personal transportation; occasional evening & weekend hours.
