Description

Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to join our growing Department of Health & Wellness. The Manager, Spiritual Health & Wellness will be responsible for delivery of culturally appropriate clinical, mental spiritual and land-based program and service delivery for KDFN.

This new position that will oversee the growth and development of a team with diverse backgrounds and expertise, as KDFN looks to blend clinical/western counselling with traditional/indigenous counselling and wellness practices.

The successful candidate will be compassionate, caring, and be able to lead a team of professionals in providing the necessary support for mental health and wellness needs of KDFN citizens, and those who throughout Yukon who access programs and services overseen by the unit.

You will be personable, adaptable and flexible; be able to successfully support clinical and traditional counselling/wellness modalities including land-based programming and service delivery. You will be able to establish trust at the community level, with other agencies and organizations, and have a breadth of experience in the counselling field, understands and values the importance of indigenous processes.

This is an exciting opportunity to grow and develop new programming with support services already being delivered.

Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or equivalent from an accredited institution, and certified as a clinical counsellor (or equivalent) in Canada, or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of hire*;
• Significant current experience providing counselling services, preferably in the north, with knowledge and understanding of trauma and trauma informed practice, domestic & family violence, residential school and intergenerational effects, abuse, sexual abuse and addictions;
• Solid significant case management experience;
• Experience managing and supervising a diverse team of mental health professionals; the ability to provide clinical supervision is an asset;
• Experience in negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution;
• Financial management experience;
• Program development, implementation and evaluation experience;
• Experience with policy and procedure development is an asset;
• Knowledge of and experience working successfully in a First Nation community is an asset.

Knowledge of Indigenous People’s history with westernized health systems, residential school and intergenerational effects have on first nation community as well as a familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, values, goals and aspirations are required for success in this position.

An equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training and coursework, and significant experience in the above noted areas will be equally considered.

Conditions of Employment & Job Requirements:
Acceptable pre-employment criminal records check with vulnerable sector search; certified counselling or psychology designation (or equivalent) in Canada*; Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and personal transportation (we do not have a pool of fleet vehicles); occasional evening & weekend hours.
