Salary: Level 6 $66,102 - $82,755 per annum PLUS benefits

Position Type: Term Full Time (2 years with possible extension)

Description

The Department of Community Services is seeking a qualified dependable and reliable Oil Burner Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, will have excellent communication and time management skills and values working as a contributing member of a busy team. You will be able to foster trust and acceptance at the community level and be willing to work within a changing organizational structure. You will be mentoring and developing a KDFN Citizen in the trade.

Qualifications:
• Certification of Qualification as an Oil Burner Mechanic or Technician recognized in the Yukon Territory;
• Certification in Residential Mechanical Ventilation Installation is an asset;
• Five or more years of experience working as a journeyman with boilers/burners, heating and ventilations systems, with experience working in a building maintenance environment;
• Physical and mechanical aptitude to perform a full range of maintenance and manual tasks.
• Basic working knowledge & experience with databases, email and search engines for on line ordering of supplies.

Knowledge of KDFN history, culture, demographics, social conditions & social dynamics, the goals & aspirations is required for success in this position.

Conditions of Employment: Maintenance of Oil Burner Mechanic certification; Willingness to comply with KDFN Occupational Health & Safety Policies and participate in training required to meet occupational standards;
Satisfactory Criminal Records Check; Valid Yukon Driver’s License, acceptable driver’s abstract and personal vehicle; completion of industry related courses required for OHS/COR compliance including but not limited to leadership for safety excellence, hazard assessment, confined space entrant.

Job Requirement: Overtime or call outs may be required; changes to work priorities to tend to emergencies, may impact timeliness and of scheduled work. Working in varying weather conditions is required.
