Salary: Level 5 $59,350 to $74,511

The Department of Community Services is growing! We are looking for a full time Yard Manager and Expediter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, will have excellent communication and time management skills and values working as a contributing member of a busy team. You will be able to foster trust and acceptance at the community level and be willing to work within a changing organizational structure.

• Grade 12 high school diploma or equivalent.
• Class 3 Driver’s license and have an acceptable driver’s abstract; those with a class 5 driver’s license may be considered with a condition of employment being that they acquire a class 3 within the first 6 months of employment.
• Past expediting experience is an asset.
• Experience working on construction sites.
• Experience working with various tools and a knowledge of carpentry tool names, various construction material items.
• Small engine & equipment repair training and experience is an asset.
• Basic working knowledge & experience with databases, email and search engines for on line ordering of supplies.
• Knowledge of and experience working with Yukon equipment retailers, local suppliers and merchants is an asset.

Job Requirements:

• Must possess and maintain Class 3 Driver’s license and have an acceptable driver’s abstract; with a willingness to obtain a Level 1 license
• First Aid & CPR; WHMIS; valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certificates.
• Leadership for Safety Excellence, or willingness to obtain these in the first 3 months of employment
• Hazard Assessment certification
• Steer cat/bob cat certification
• Construction site safety training is an asset

May be required to participate in various safety training workshops, courses and committees as a requirement of the position. Working in varying weather conditions is required.
