Men’s Four-Week Retreat: Jackson Lake Land-Base Healing

Kwanlin Dün First Nation Men's four- week Land-Based Healing program is held about 15 km southwest of Whitehorse by the serene shores of Jackson Lake on the traditional lands of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. The Land Based Healing program's mission is to provide a supportive, land-based, holistic and compassionate environment based on the integration of traditional and modern knowledge in order to create balance and self-empowerment. Program leaders and staff believe strongly in the healing power of culture and the land. Land based, cultural and ceremonial activities form a central focus in all aspects of programs offered. The program provides trauma treatment using a variety of methodologies to address the underlying issues related to addictions, depression, anxiety, grief & loss, issues related to residential school & colonization.

The Kwanlin Dün Jackson Lake Wellness Team offers pre-camp and aftercare support to all participants who wish to connect with the team.

Family Camp at Jackson Lake Healing Camp

Kwanlin Dün First Nation is excited to announce some changes coming to the Jackson Lake Land-Based Healing Camp programs in 2019-2020. This includes the introduction of Family Camps!

Yukon First Nation Families are invited to gather at Jackson Lake for land-based healing camps. Parents and children will share in cultural activities, traditional foods, Elders' teachings and time on the land. Staff will be there to lead activities and provide meals. Families will be have an opportunity to fish, hike, hear stories and make medicines.

Registration is now open. Space is limited to 16 people divided between families, and it's first come, first served. Families are asked to please respect the limited space and ensure they are prepared to keep their reservation and only sign up if they are certain they can attend. Registration packages are available by calling (867) 668-7289 or visiting the KDFN Health Centre.

Please note: there is no child care during these camps. Parents are 100% responsible for the health and well-being of their children while attending. All activities are child friendly.Transportation from the Health Centre to Jackson Lake is available if needed.

Community Back to School BBQ

Come to the community back to school BBQ, on August 21 to celebrate the start of a new school year.

Show up, meet with staff, enjoy some hamburgers and hot-dogs, and get the chance to win some door prizes!

Jackson Lake Wellness Women’s Retreat

Need some time to re-connect, be on the land, learn some new skills and self care tools? Please join us on the traditional land of the Kwanlin Dün First Nations.

Who is it for? Women who are sober, have completed a previous treatment program and need some time to re-connect. As well as front line workers who would like some time to care for themselves.

Please note, this camp is based on the principals of land based healing and is not a clinical or trauma treatment program.

Registration is open. Space is limited. Dates for the Jackson Lake Wellness Women's Retreat are
July 29 - August 3

Women will have the opportunity to spend time with Elders and support staff and participate in cultural activities, revisit ways of self-care and receive traditional teachings on the land. There will be a combination of structured activities and free time.

Youth Rec: Carcross Day Trips

We are heading to Carcross on three separate day-trips on July 9, 16 and 23 for youth ages 5-18. We will check out the Carcross/Tagish Learning Centre, Carcross Commons, Bennett Lake and grab some ice cream! Please bring a bathing suit, towel, and a change of clothes,

Transportation and food will be provided.

Wildland Wilderness Expeditions - Youth Recreation

Wilderness Wellness Expeditions (WWE) is a program designed to provide youth with opportunities to develop leadership skills, wilderness skills, and to promote positive personal growth and coping skills through wilderness adventure. Partnered with the Youth Achievement centre, the program will offer the opportunity to build more skills in canoeing, share and explore cultural knowledge, and allow youth the chance to see some of the pristine wilderness the Yukon has to offer. Wilderness Wellness Expeditions will continue throughout the summer.
