Health - Jackson Lake Healing Camp

The Land-based Healing program’s mission is to provide a supportive, holistic and compassionate environment based on the integration of traditional and modern knowledge.

Leaders and staff believe strongly in the healing power of culture and the land in order to create balance and self-empowerment. Cultural and ceremonial activities form a central focus in all aspects of programs offered.

This project provides trauma support using a variety of methodologies to address the underlying issues related to addictions, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, and issues related to residential school and colonization. The Kwanlin Dün Jackson Lake Wellness Team offers pre-camp and aftercare support to all participants who wish to access these supports.

As you may be aware, KDFN began a comprehensive evaluation of its Spiritual & Mental wellness programs and services in late 2018. In May 2019, KDFN announced its commitment to pilot alternative land-based healing models going forward. This included the introduction of new initiatives to promote wellness and healing that were suggested as part of our ongoing evaluation.
