Lands & Resources - Lands Act Consultation

Lands Act Consultation

The Heritage, Lands and Resources Department has been working hard to develop a new Lands Act. On October 17, 2019, the draft Lands Act passed first reading. This allows the department to reach out to Kwanlin Dün Beneficiaries and Citizens for feedback on the draft Lands Act.

The department will host a series of consultation sessions throughout November and December. During that time, the department will walk Kwanlin Dün Beneficiaries and Citizens through the Act, answer questions on the draft legislation and receive feedback to improve the draft Lands Act.

The new Lands Act is a critical piece of Kwanlin Dün First Nation’s settlement land management system. It enables Kwanlin Dün First Nation to grant land to Beneficiaries, Citizens and the general public.

The Lands Act consultation will end in January 2020.
