Why can’t beneficiaries see draft copies of the Acts that would be developed if the Settlement Land Policy and Investment Governance Policy are approved?

Due to the high price of legal services and the KDFN constitutional requirement that the KDFN beneficiaries first approve the Settlement Land Policy and the Investment Governance Policy in a referendum, drafts of the Investment Governance Act and the Settlement Land Act have not been developed.

Once the policies have been approved in the referendum, Chief and Council will retain legal counsel to work with KDFN leadership, staff and beneficiaries to prepare the draft laws.

Winners of Voters Draw

On June 21st, at a celebration BBQ event, the Voters Draw was held. Everyone who voted in person or by mail had their name put in a hat.

The lucky winners were:

* ELLIE SHORTY won 1st Prize (a Norseman Wall Tent (10 X 12 X 5) & Stove)
* JUSTIN SMITH won 2nd Prize (an Air North Summer Solstice Air Pass)
* CHRISTOPHER STERRIAH won 3rd Prize (a BBQ)

These prizes were offered by the KDFN government to encourage eligible KDFN beneficiaries to vote in the referendum.

The prizes were not associated with the Chief Returning Officer.
