This is the proposed Consultation Policy Statement which Beneficiaries will be voting ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on:
Our First Nation, in consultation with KDFN Beneficiaries, will put in place a Kwanlin Dün First Nation Consultation Policy:
* To acknowledge our determination to protect the interests of Beneficiaries.
* To ensure that Beneficiaries can participate in a consultation and approval process whenever their interests are affected by proposed amendments to the KDFN Final Agreement or this Policy.
Why do we need this policy?
KDFN’s constitution says that the First Nation must develop a Consultation Policy Statement that will guide how KDFN will consult with its Beneficiaries on any amendment to the Final Agreement.
.
What benefits will it create?
The Consultation Policy Statement empowers Kwanlin Dün Beneficiaries as it outlines what current and future leaders must do if they want to make any changes to the KDFN Final Agreement that might impact the interests of Beneficiaries.
.
If approved, what will happen next?
If the policy statement is approved, KDFN will then develop a more detailed Consultation Policy that meets the principles set out in the statement.
KDFN will consult with Beneficiaries as it works on this new policy.
If, in the future, there are proposed changes to the Final Agreement that might affect Beneficiaries’ interests, Beneficiaries will be notified and will have the opportunity to participate in a consultation and approval process.
