Position:                    Caretaker, Jackson Lake Wellness Camp

Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking the ultimate handy person for our position as Caretaker for Jackson Lake Wellness Camp. Reporting to the Manager, Community Buildings and Services, the incumbent will be responsible for looking after the physical assets at the property referred to as Jackson Lake Wellness Camp both during and outside of Land Based Healing program offerings. The Jackson Lake Wellness Camp is a safe, alcohol and drug free property where participants of all ages attend healing camps aimed at supporting individuals to connect further with the land, culture and better manage addictions.

The Caretaker will live on the premises, under the Yukon Tenant Act and KDFN Tenant Policy, and pay a minimal rent.  They will provide a base level of security for the camp as well as general maintenance and cleaning as needed. The incumbent will ensure that the facilities are prepared and ready for various events and camps to be held on the property.

  • Carpentry and plumbing training/skills
  • Familiar with equipment of all types including water pumps, solar panels, generators and quads
  • Willingness to live in in a remote, semi-wilderness location and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Note:  An equivalent combination of post-secondary coursework, training, workshops and significant experience will equally be considered.

Job Requirements:  heavy lifting; irregular hours; evening & weekend work; maintain valid driver’s license and operating vehicle; sobriety at all time while on site and in capacity of this position.

Conditions of Employment: valid class 5 drivers’ license; satisfactory pre-employment criminal records check, wilderness first aid ticket; Food safe Level 1; WHMIS;

Salary:                                 $53,544.40 to $78,090.74  –  ($29.42 to $42.91/hr.)  (Level 4) plus benefits
