Chasàn Tatäy

The Chasàn Tatäy subdivision is a joint project of Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Government of Yukon.

Plans for the subdivision include 400+ housing units on KDFN Settlement Land parcel C-15B (14.85 hectares) and YG’s Lot 262-6 (3.6 hectares). These parcels are located just off Range Road in Whitehorse.

During land claims, negotiators selected C-15b to be used for revenue generation so that KDFN can provide programs and services to Beneficiaries and Citizens.
KDFN will maintain ownership over its land, making it accessible to developers by signing 125-year leases. Housing built on the land will be sold to the general public. Kwanlin Dün Citizens and Beneficiaries will have a preferential offering on purchasing there as required under the KDFN Lands Act.

The vision for this new neighbourhood came about through consultation with the KDFN community in 2013-2014 and 2021. The vision was solidified with the publication of the Range Point Master Plan in 2023.

The Southern Tutchone name, Chasàn Tatäy, means Copper Narrows in English. This reflects the history of the area.
