Dusk’a Head Start Family Learning Centre

Dusk’a Head Start Family Learning Centre is a fully licensed early childhood education centre for children aged 18 months to pre-kindergarten.

Dusk’a is renowned for its programming with an emphasis on:

  • kindergarten readiness;
  • health promotion;
  • nutrition;
  • language;
  • culture; and
  • parental and community involvement.

Dusk’a provides high-quality holistic programming that meets the needs of each child from a family-centred approach.

The centre is named after the late respected Elder Dusk’a, who was also known as Emma Burns, in recognition of her commitment to children and to the daycare.

  • New Year’s Day
  • Yukon Heritage Day
  • Good Friday
  • Easter Monday
  • Victoria Day
  • National Indigenous Peoples Day
  • Canada Day
  • Discovery Day
  • Labour Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Remembrance Day
  • Christmas Break (decided each year by the KDFN Council)

Dusk’a will also be closed for at least three days each year for staff professional development days.
