Kwanlin Dün First Nation Executive Council Office is seeking a Policy Analyst to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Governance, this position is responsible for developing and analyzing substantive Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) government policy initiatives, and providing the Council with concise and essential information on which to make informed decisions.
We are seeking a strategic individual with critical thinking skills and solid research abilities. You will have a genuine interest in policy development and implementation and must enjoy working on a wide variety of policy projects. Analyzing multiple policy projects and making evidence-based, informed recommendations are components of the work and strong oral and written communication skills are essential for success.
Required Qualifications (what we screen/look for on your resume): An equivalent combination of post-secondary education, combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified below, will equally be considered.
- Degree in Public Administration, Political Science or related field
- Experience researching, assessing and developing policy options and coordinating policy processes
- Experience providing advice and recommendations on complex subjects, issues and policy options to senior management and Council
- Experience working with various research tools including qualitative and quantitative data gathering
- Experience working in a First Nation government may be considered an asset

- Strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities
- Ability to identify risks and implications of policy decisions
- Critical thinking skill to assess complex policy issues and develop evidence-based solutions
- Solid project and time management skills (prioritizing and managing multiple projects)
- Excellent Interpersonal and organizational skills
Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and personal transportation is an asset. Occasional overtime, including attendance at General Assemblies, is required.
