The Kwanlin Dün Caregivers Fourplex at the corner of McIntyre Drive and McCandless Crescent is now officially open.
KDFN Justice led the project in response to the costs and impacts of responding to family crisis situations requiring short-term, emergency housing. The building’s purpose is to provide temporary, fully furnished units for caregivers in circumstances where a child’s safety and well-being are at risk.
At today’s opening, Chief Sean Smith remarked that there has never been a shortage of love in our community – as there have always been family members willing to care for children in times of need. However, do not always have appropriate housing. The Caregivers Fourplex provides that.
One of the four housing unit will be used strictly for emergency accommodations. The length of stay in the other units will be determined on a case-by-case basis. All units are fully furnished.
