Every year, KDFN’s youngest community members release tiny salmon fry in to Wolf Creek. It’s a big milestone for the little fish – they are old enough to head into the wild all on their own, and to start feeding on microscopic aquatic life before beginning a long journey to the ocean. This ritual is a milestone for Duska’ students too – each one of them has grown so much in a few short months! Last week they repeated ritual! Many thanks to HLR staff, Duska’ staff and loved ones who helped make the day so special. Also, shä̀w níthän to Morgan Gilmar from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans for all her work nurturing the love of salmon.
