We didn’t bring a “fun scale” to measure the enjoyment levels at last week’s Community Fun Days, but if we had it surely would have been off the charts. More than 100 people attended the community dinner on Thursday night. They followed their meal up with some serious laughs dished out by Conway Kootenay. Rainy weather didn’t seem to stop people from heading to the Potlatch House for more fun on Friday, although a few people lined up for burgers did get surprise-soakers due to puddles that jumped off of rain tents covering the barbeques. Elders enjoyed bingo, horseshoes, crafts and just hanging out. The kids got their energy out at the bouncy castle and sumo suits. People of all ages enjoyed creating custom tees and sweatshirts! All this fun was made possible by KDFN staff members who took time out of their day – and worked overtime – to set-up and clean-up these events. We are also incredibly grateful to the YFNED team that contributed to the event, to Cole Pauls and Bradley Joe for setting up a silk screen station, to Conway Kootenay, and many others. The door prizes were also amazing! Thank you to Air North, Yukon’s Airline Kilrich Building Centres, Sky High Wilderness Ranch and Chieftain Energy for their donations. And of course – shä̀w níthän to all community members who came out! It wouldn’t have been fun without you.
