Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Labourer is responsible for performing physical duties and responsibilities in a shop, home, building or outdoors. The work typically entails site preparation, maintenance, clean up; minor construction and repairs of interior and exterior home and building finishes, structures and components owned by Kwanlin Dun First Nation Government.
The Labourer should be able to follow instructions, wear steel-toe boots and other industry specified personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, complete work assigned by the required deadline, be physically fit, demonstrate wellness, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications (what we look for on your resume): An equivalent combination of post-secondary education (i.e.: Diploma), combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.
- Valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s License
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent
- General labour experience;
- Basic carpentry experience is an asset;
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks and assigned duties within the allotted time frame;
- Experience scheduling, organizing, and successfully completing projects independently.
- Knowledge of KDFN history, culture, demographics, goals and aspirations.
An equivalent combination of workshops and training, and experience in the above areas will be equally considered.

Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.
Conditions of employment:
- Valid Yukon Class 5 Driver’s License
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) will be considered an asset
- WHMIS (or willingness to obtain as soon as available)
- Confined Space Awareness will be considered an asset
- Fall Arrest will be considered an asset
- Hazard Assessment Training (or willingness to obtain as soon as available)
- First Aid & CPR-C (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire)
Salary: $40,968.20- $63,991.20 per annum ($22.51 – $35.16 per hour) Level 1*plus benefits
