Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking a reliable and motivated Camp Attendant to support on-the-land programming at Jackson Lake Healing Camp, Camp Nekhu and other venues as assigned. Reporting to the Land-Based Program Coordinator, this role ensures camp facilities, cabins, and program spaces are clean, organized, and fully prepared to provide a safe, welcoming, and functional environment for participants and staff. The Camp Attendant plays a vital role in supporting KDFN’s cultural and healing programs through housekeeping, maintenance, safety, and operational support before, during, and after programs and events.

About the Role
The Camp Attendant works closely with the Land-Based Program Coordinator, Camp Caretaker, program staff, and participants to maintain safe and functional camp facilities. Responsibilities include indoor and outdoor maintenance, logistical support for programs, and assisting with setup and cleanup during events and camps. This position requires flexibility, physical stamina, and a commitment to teamwork, safety, and cultural respect.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cabins, bathrooms, program spaces, and common areas, including cleaning, laundry, and restocking supplies.
- Assist with outdoor maintenance, including chopping and stacking firewood, camp setup/tear-down, and care of tools and equipment.
- Support program staff during events and camps by preparing spaces, tracking and replenishing supplies, and assisting with meal service or activities.
- Follow Health & Safety protocols, assist with basic First Aid as required, and report hazards or maintenance issues.
- Contribute to smooth camp operations by supporting logistics, participant needs, and overall program delivery.
Required Qualifications (what we screen/look for on your resume): An equivalent combination of post-secondary education (i.e.: Diploma), combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.
- 1–2 years of experience in housekeeping, facilities maintenance, or camp operations.
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
- Experience in outdoor or remote settings preferred.
- Training or certification in Janitorial, Housekeeping, or Facilities Maintenance is an asset.
- Experience working in a First Nation or community-based environment is an asset.
- Basic repair or handyman experience is an asset.
Knowledge and skills (what we may assess/interview on):
- Understanding of KDFN culture, values, and respect for land and community.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, chemical use, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment safely; adaptability to changing schedules, weather, and camp demands.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and variable hours depending on programming schedules.
Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.
Conditions of Employment:
- Acceptable pre-employment criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and personal transportation (Class 4 an asset).
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Food Safe Level 1 (or willingness to obtain within six months).
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and overnight work.
- Moderate to heavy physical activity, including lifting, carrying, chopping wood, and cleaning.
