Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking a passionate and skilled Land-Based Programming Coordinator to lead on-the-land programming at Jackson Lake Healing Camp programming. Promotes cultural revitalization, healing, and community wellness. As an integral member of the Justice Department, this role is responsible for coordinating cultural programs, camps, and events at Jackson Lake Healing Camp, Camp Nekhu, and other venues as assigned.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Family Support and Community Engagement, the Land-Based Programming Coordinator will plan, organize, and deliver culturally grounded programming that strengthens identity, connection, and wellness for KDFN citizens of all ages. They work closely with all KDFN departments, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community members and external stakeholders to ensure that all programming reflects KDFN values and traditional knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
•Lead in planning, coordinating, and overseeing cultural, land-based programs, camps, and events across multiple locations.
•Collaborate with KDFN departments, community partners, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and stakeholders.
•Manage logistics, including transportation, meals, equipment, scheduling, and program safety. Support staff, partners, and volunteers, ensuring smooth program delivery and cultural integrity.
•Contribute to program planning, risk assessments, emergency protocols, and reporting on participation and outcomes.

Required Qualifications (what we screen/look for on your resume): An equivalent combination of post-secondary education (i.e.: Diploma), combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.

•Post-secondary diploma in Community Development, Indigenous Governance, Health & Wellness, Education, Social Work, Event or Project Management, or a related field.
•Minimum 2–3 years of experience in program coordination, event management, or community development, including planning, coordinating, and implementing land-based, cultural, or healing programs (e.g., camps, workshops, family gatherings).
•Experience working collaboratively with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community members, and teams in culturally respectful ways.
•Demonstrated experience managing logistics (transportation, safety, meals, equipment, scheduling) and financial tracking (budgets, expenses, reporting to management/funding bodies).
•Experience supervising casual or contracted staff and coordinating multi-stakeholder teams is an asset.

Knowledge and skills (what we may assess/interview on):
•An understanding of Kwanlin Dün First Nation culture, language, history, and traditional practices, or a willingness to learn
•Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and holistic approaches to community wellness and healing
•Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
•Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with Elders, community members, and partner organizations
•A willingness to learn traditional harvesting protocols, seasonal cycles, and on-the-land practices
•The ability to design and implement safety plans, risk assessments, and emergency response protocols
•Adaptability, sound decision-making, and the ability to maintain calm in dynamic outdoor environments
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office, scheduling systems, and basic financial tracking tools
•Cultural competence, emotional resilience, and professionalism when working with diverse groups and sensitive situations Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.

Conditions of Employment:

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation (Class 4 preferred);
• First Aid, CPR, and Food Safe certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months);

• Lead and participate in outdoor, land-based, and traditional activities, in varying weather conditions;
• Moderate physical fitness and endurance to support on-the-land program delivery;
• Commitment to cultural humility, teamwork, and community connection.
