In recognition of the ongoing grief the Yukon is experiencing with overdose fatalities, KDFN is setting up a Tree of Life beside the Natsékhi Kų̀ Health Centre starting Friday afternoon.
There will be several blankets laid out where people can make offerings in recognition of people they’ve lost or for those who are struggling.
Because of the cold temperatures and the ongoing risk of COVID-19 transmission, we ask that:
- People bring their own pre-made note, photo, tobacco, or item to be placed. (We cannot provide paper and pens to use onsite.)
- People do not gather at the site. We encourage you to come and stay in your existing bubble.
All items left will be handled carefully in a culturally appropriate way.
