The Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is excited to announce the launch of a major, multi-year Community Retrofit Initiative in Whitehorse, Yukon.
This initiative is a deep energy retrofit program intended to significantly improve the performance, durability, and comfort of approximately 100 homes within the KDFN community.
The scope of work for the retrofits includes:
- Exterior Finishing, Insulation, and Air-Sealing (above and below grade, and atics)
- Window, Door Replacement
- Heat Pump and HRV installation, including electrical upgrades
A central goal of this project is community capacity building and maximizing the participation of KDFN citizens and locally owned businesses in the delivery of quality work for the project.
Other important goals include:
- Minimizing disruption to residents of occupied homes through careful coordination and communication.
- Fostering a culturally safe and respectful work environment.
Construction is expected to begin in May 2026 and be completed by March 2028 and is being carried out in collaboration with Earthrise Building Services.
