Children and Family Support
The Youth Outreach Team provides ongoing support and opportunities for Kwanlin Dün First Nation youth and young adults (ages 12–18) to engage in culturally rooted programs and initiatives. They connect with youth in their homes, within the community, and on the land, using a compassion-first approach that fosters trust, growth, and meaningful connections. Through this work, the team creates pathways for young people to access support, build skills, and participate in enriching cultural experiences.
The Circles and Ceremony Coordinator provides community members with access to traditional circles, cultural teachings, ceremonies, and parenting supports. By sharing cultural knowledge and working closely with KDFN departments and community partners, the team supports culturally grounded services that strengthen family connections,
We currently have two Jordan’s Principle Service Coordinators who provide support and advocacy for children with specialized needs, ensuring they have access to the services, care, and resources they require. They work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure children receive the care, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive, while also helping families access funding, programs, and culturally appropriate supports.
Post Majority Care offers wraparound supports and services to young people aged 19–26 who are transitioning out of the child welfare system or leaving kinship, family, or alternate care. This referral-based program helps youth continue to be supported as they move into adulthood, offering direct services such as financial assistance, housing, education, and support for physical, mental, and social well-being. It also provides opportunities to (re)connect with the land, culture, and language. Through individualized planning and indirect service funding, Post Majority Care ensures each youth has the guidance, resources, and support needed to build independence and thrive.
