This September, Lynda Silverfox is bringing a series of group sessions based on the Heal Your Life philosophy by created by Louise Hay to the KDFN community for a second time.
Lynda says she found the philosophy after her own personal challenges made it difficult for her to continue working in her previous role as KDFN’s Spiritual Mental Wellness Manager.
“I was having difficulty sleeping, I couldn’t shut my mind down at night, I was catastrophizing. I was overwhelmed by all these bad and scary thoughts. I couldn’t count on my memory and focus, and just couldn’t do it anymore.”
Lynda says she’s done a lot of healing work over the years, but the tools offered through this method helped her to see her life differently, and free her from the things that were holding her back.
Heal Your Life offers people tools – like visualization, meditation, journaling and affirmations, and mirror work – to help shift their mindset and energy.
“Participants in these workshops should take what works for them and leave the rest,” she says. “But at the end of the day, it is the time and practice you put in that will determine what you are going to get out of it. I am not a healer; I simply share the tools. Only the individual and the Creator can create a path to healing.”
Heal Your Life facilitator Amy Garcia worked with Lynda to deliver the first sessions to a group of KDFN Citizens last winter.
This fall, Lynda will be joined by KDFN counsellor Alaina Flegar and Elder May Bill.
“May joined us in the previous Heal Your Life sessions and was just able to relate, summarize, share examples and simplify things that made it easy to understand,” she says. “May has a real gift; she is a gem.”
The overall structure of the sessions will be similar to the previous ones, but a little “softer” says Lynda.
“We will connect with one another to create a safe space. We will all get a chance to share and reflect on our lives, and we will explore key themes together,” she says. “Each participant is invited to bring a craft to stay grounded.”
Sessions begin on August 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Healing Room at Nats’ekhi Kų̀ Health Centre.
