The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) is now Kwanlin Dün First Nation law. It is designed to protect Citizens’ personal information, support self-government, and make government information accessible. It has taken many years of hard work and collaboration among KDFN Citizens and leadership in order to bring it to life. KDFN Chief Sean Smith, Councillors Jolene Smarch, Jesse Ryder and Charlene Charlie spent the day of December 18 listening to the Act’s third reading at the Kashgêk’ building, while Councillor Ray Sidney and Elders Councillor Elaine Shorty participated remotely. Shä̀w níthän, másin cho, gunałchÎsh and thank you to everyone who contributed to the process.
There will be a Let’s Keep Talking event on Thursday, January 29 to inform Citizens about their rights under FIPPA. More information to follow!
